Before the game, there seemed to be a bit of a dark cloud over the United States entering the WBC semifinal game against the Dominican Republic. The DR had a who's-who of perennial all star hitters on their roster ranging from Fernando Tatis Jr to Julio Rodriguez. Although the US seemed to have a pretty stacked lineup, they seemed overmatched.
Enter Paul Skenes, Gunnar Henderson, and last but not least, Roman Anthony. After Junior Caminero started off the scoring with a solo HR in the 2nd inning, it was all the United States after that. Skenes shut down the Dominican Republic lineup the rest of his time out there going 4 1/3 innings while striking out 2. The rest of the US pitching staff gave up two hits and a walk the rest of the game for a 2-1 victory.
The US got a HR from Henderson in the 4th to start their scoring.

The game winning home run came two batters later when Anthony, the youngest player on the 2026 USA WBC roster (and any injury replacement by the way) hit a solo home run to win the game.
